An animal in agony and supporters rewrote the story.

An animal in agony and supporters rewrote the story.

Asif was a noble animal. Born beautiful. A strong gray mule, faithful in service as a beast of burden.

And he was loved. His owner, a humble working man in a remote region of Morocco, was grateful for the mule’s daily labor. He recognized the enormous value of this good animal: Without the help of this dependable partner, he could not keep his family alive.

A young colt in agonizing pain!

You wouldn’t want to see it … a lovely colt in desperate pain, rolling around on the ground. Najem — Arabic for “star” — was suffering gravely when his owner brought him here to the American Fondouk. In typical medical terms, the colt was “colicky” — but this doesn’t come close to communicating the agony that Najem was going through.

Every day, with every animal we treat, I am thankful for you. Friends like you, giving generously, make possible everything that happens here at the American Fondouk. You’re bringing help and healing to working animals with illnesses and injuries, and you’re sustaining the families who depend so completely on them, for their very survival, every single day. So I thank you sincerely.

EMERGENCY INTERVENTION

In a crisis … WILL WE BE READY? A freak accident — a mule stabbed, and close to death — but compassion, generosity, and great love for animals … our supporters helped saved him. And maybe even saved his owner’s life. It was a remote corner of Morocco. A man I’ll call Amal, living in […]
